Welcome to class...
|
Objectives:
1-All students know every classmate by name. 2-All students will write an "I Am" poem. 3-Students determine their 4-letter personality type by completing the test & calculating their results. 4-Students will analyze claims that define and describe their personality type. 5-Students will use Google Classroom to write a 3 paragraph essay reflecting on the claims about their personality. 6-Groups of students with the same personality will create a super-fast presentation using Google slides and present it to the class. |
1. What's Your Name?
Use the techniques from the video to learn the names of your classmates. You have about 1 week before the test!
I will give you a blank seating chart. You must fill in the first name (spelling doesn't matter). I too will take the test and the total possible will be my score, so if you beat me you will earn extra credit. |
2. "I Am Poem" Directions
Multi-Media Connection- From Disney's Alice in Wonderland
|
QuickWrite- In 5 minutes, respond to the following: Who are you? If you had only one word to explain yourself, what would it be? What about a phrase? A sentence, paragraph, or book? What is the best way for you to communicate your "true self" to somebody? Through a description, a photograph, a song, a dance? By your clothes, your tattoos, your beliefs, a piece of art that you've created, or your last name?
Do people ever change being who they were and become somebody new? Are you still the person you were last year? 5 years ago? 10 or 15? Will you be the same 20 years from now? Does the person we want to be have anything to do with the person we become? "Know Thy Self" -Aristotle "To Thine own self be true"- Shakespeare's Hamlet (Polonius to Laertes) |
3. Take the test
Students complete the Personality Test and Scoring Page to find their results. They may also take an online version at humanmetrics.com or truity.com. Students must record their 4-letter results on a 3x5 index card with their name. Next, they will analyze the following charts and consider what their results say and suggest about them as individuals.

- Body 2-Must summarize and react to claims about your personality type in relationships. Give specific evidence in the form of anecdotes from your life/the real world to support or refute these claims
- Conclusion- On the whole do you mostly agree or disagree with what you have learned about your results? What can you do with this information?
6. Work with your group to create an artifact or presentation
Students will work with other members of the same personality group to create an artifact or presentation that summarizes their personality type and present it to the class. You can say something or create something to show the class but when you are done we all need to have an idea of who you are and how you answered the questions above. There is intentionally little structure to this assignment, but you may want to consider:
What do these type of people do for fun? How do you relate to others? What can you contribute to a group? Do you have suggestions for those who want to get along with people of this type? What are the best/worst types of work or assignments for your type? What kind of person would you hate to have to sit next to on a long plane ride? What's your dream/nightmare class project?

Optional Activity: Four corners (if there's extra time)
Your teacher has labeled the four corners of the room. They are labeled:
"That's not true at all!"
"That might be a little true"
"Yes, that's true" and
"OMG, That's 100% soooooo TRUE!!!!"
Your teacher will read statements. Without talking move to the corner that best describes your reaction to the statement.
Statements:
-I find it easy to talk to strangers.
-I have the ability to really concentrate or focus on something for a long period of time without being distracted.
-Sometimes I know what other people are feeling as soon as they walk in the room.
-I often day dream or think about things that are possibilities.
-I often notice flaws or errors when something can be improved.
-It drives me crazy when people are too talkative.
-I am organized.
-I try and stick to a schedule or routine.
-I love when something unexpected happens.
-I am more of a thinker.
-I am more of a feeler.
-I appreciate clear rules.
-If comfortable, accept suggestions from students and continue the activity.
-I keep a calendar or organizer and love to check stuff off the list.
