I. Pre-reading:
Quickwrite (pg 4)
Vocabulary (pg 4)

II. Reading:
Listen to the audio while you read the story in the textbook.  As you read, be sure to identify the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution (AKA denouement).

III. Re-Reading:
Consult the text to answer questions from pages 19: 1-8 only.  Use full and complete sentences and be sure that each of your answers explain evidence from the text in order to prove your point. 

IV. Post-Reading:
Answer question 9 in a full chunk paragraph. 
Topic Sentence: What assertion/claim are you trying to prove?
Concrete Detail: What is your evidence from the text (quote, context, pg#)?
Commentary 1: Explain how evidence from the text supports your assertion/claim.
Commentary 2: 
Conclusion Sentence: Tie up your paragraph by connecting it back to your assertion/claim from the topic sentence.
